Integrator (Remote, San Antonio)
Full‑time, remote (USA or Canada)
About the Role
Blacksmith Agency is a remote agency building websites and running paid and organic programs for US clients. As Integrator you run the company day‑to‑day. Sales, recruiting, delivery and marketing all report to this seat. Today that work sits on the founder’s desk, which is the whole reason it is open. If you run on EOS you know the shape already: the founder is the visionary and owns where the business goes, and you are the one who makes it happen, on a date, with the people we actually have. Each department lead knows their function better than you will. You are accountable for all four of them together, and for the profit number underneath.
Responsibilities
- Oversee four department leads: their numbers, development, reviews, and intervene when a lead is off‑track.
- Set the weekly meeting rhythm, quarterly priorities, and decide what gets cut when priorities collide.
- Own profit, measured on attainment rather than activity; manage margin on delivery, real cost of hires, and decide which business to take or turn down.
- Handle commercial conversations: client contracts, redlines, vendor terms, and define what the company will and will not agree to.
- Build strong operators into actual leaders, many of whom have never been coached before.
- Make decisions that currently wait on the founder, delivering them the same day.
Requirements
- Experience with multiple functions reporting to you, including responsibility for their numbers, hiring, and performance‑managing leaders.
- Track record of joining a company at one size and leaving it three‑ or four‑times larger (e.g., growing from ~40 to ~140 employees) and establishing scalable processes.
- Personal ownership of a profit number—margin, not just revenue—demonstrating accountability for financial outcomes.
- Real negotiation experience on contracts and with people; the role frequently sits across the negotiation table.
- Strong communicator able to clearly convey reality to four leaders and the founder.
- Must have previously owned someone’s review or performance‑managed a leader; cannot have only led within a single function.
- Must not be seeking the visionary seat; this role is explicitly the integrator seat.
Process
Three conversations, then a decision: a 30‑minute screen with our recruiter, a first round with the founder this seat reports to, and a final interview. No take‑home project and no panel interview.
