The Princeton DMIA Integration team is seeking a skilled API Developer to design, build, and maintain system‑to‑system integrations that connect enterprise applications and enable seamless data exchange across the organization. The role serves as the primary integration engineer for the API platform and includes designing a migration strategy from existing WSO2 to next‑generation platforms such as Boomi or MuleSoft.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop RESTful and SOAP APIs, event‑driven integrations, and message‑based workflows using WSO2 API Manager and WSO2 Micro Integrator.
  • Architect and implement system‑to‑system integration patterns including point‑to‑point, hub‑and‑spoke, and publish‑subscribe models.
  • Collaborate with application owners, data engineers, and infrastructure engineers to define integration contracts, SLAs, and data exchange standards.
  • Develop and maintain API documentation, integration design specifications, and runbooks.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize integration pipelines for performance, reliability, and security.
  • Enforce API security best practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mutual TLS, rate limiting, and threat‑protection policies.
  • Participate in an on‑call production support rotation and respond to integration incidents per SLA.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline setup and DevOps practices for integration deployments.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience with REST API development using various integration patterns.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Boomi or MuleSoft integration platforms.
  • Proficiency in designing and consuming RESTful APIs; working knowledge of SOAP, GraphQL, and AsyncAPI.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java for integration scripting and transformation logic.
  • Proficient in SQL for data querying and validation across integration workflows.
  • Linux/Unix environment fluency, including Shell scripting for automation and deployment.
  • Basic networking knowledge (DNS, HTTP/S, TCP/IP, proxies, firewalls, load balancers).
  • Experience with IAM concepts: LDAP, Active Directory, OAuth 2.0, SAML, and role‑based access control.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure fundamentals (AWS, Azure, or GCP) such as virtual networks, storage, and managed services.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).
  • Ability to read and produce integration design documentation and API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Preferred: 7+ years of hands‑on experience with REST API development and Boomi or MuleSoft platforms.
  • Preferred: Hands‑on experience with WSO2 API Manager and/or WSO2 Micro Integrator (ESB/EI).
  • Preferred: Exposure to event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or WSO2 Streaming Integrator.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for integration runtime deployments.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns (EIP).
