Integrated Programs Coordinator
Integrated Programs Coordinator position located at Northpoint, Kansas City, Missouri within the Financial Counseling Center. This is a full-time role funded solely by grant funds; should the funding end, the position may cease.
About the role
The Integrated Program Coordinator’s primary role is to determine and verify eligibility of individuals for Missouri Medicaid (MO Healthnet), specifically those applications completed by UH FCC staff. This involves:
- Reviewing applications
- Gathering necessary documentation
- Assessing income, assets, and other factors to determine program eligibility
- Verifying and loading insurance in the UH system as patients become approved
Secondarily, this role serves as a front-line representative for the organization by:
- Interviewing patients and/or other sources to obtain demographic and financial data
- Linking patients to clinical and financial systems of the hospital
- Communicating health benefit regulations and patient financial obligations to responsible parties
Communication and interviewing may occur in various settings: face-to-face, over the phone, bedside, within ambulatory clinics, or via online tools. When on the phone, the coordinator serves as the first contact for patients and other internal/external customers seeking information about financial assistance. The role involves:
- Asking key questions to assist patients with financial option inquiries
- Using patient interactions as opportunities to solve system problems
- Making informed decisions using multiple systems and tools to ascertain eligibility for assistance programs
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must meet state of Missouri employment requirements for all persons contracted to do work with the Department of Social Services, including satisfaction of all state income tax requirements and fingerprinting
- Successfully complete the 6-8 week Family Support Division training related to application processing
- Concise written and verbal communication skills
- Communication skills to interview patients and families, gather and exchange information with hospital staff, physicians, and resource persons
- Minimum requirements met for Resource Counselor II
- Advanced computer, keyboard, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills
- Ability to work in a busy, loud, and demanding environment
- Independently recognize and evaluate situations for the level of urgency
- Strong emotional intelligence and empathy
- Detail-oriented and accurate
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Family Support Division Worker
- Experience in hospital admission and/or patient accounting
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Computer skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Schedule
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week.
