Integrated Mental Health Therapist

About the role

Provides clinical assessment and treatment to patients at the Bryan Cancer Center, Bryan Counseling Center, or affiliates, delivering individual, family, and group therapy as needed. Collaborates within an integrated health team and assists with program development. Must relate effectively to people of all cultures and ages, offering culturally competent and developmentally appropriate care.

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial diagnostic interviews, mental status exams, and patient diagnosis upon admission; makes treatment and referral recommendations.
  • Develops and updates individualized treatment plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and to ensure optimum outpatient care.
  • Independently provides individual, group, and family therapy in person or via telehealth; delivers crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Completes documentation and billing in a timely manner per Medical Center guidelines and regulatory standards (HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission).
  • Maintains appropriate caseload size to meet productivity expectations and provides community-based, culturally competent care.
  • Attends outpatient staff meetings, clinical staffing, and other assigned meetings; participates in professional development through seminars and affiliations.
  • Abides by professional and corporate ethical standards and utilizes trauma-informed care principles.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Maintains clinical competency including age-specific competencies, annual skill verification, and mandatory education.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software relevant to job functions, telehealth practices, and crisis intervention methods.
  • Knowledge of social work principles, supportive and group counseling techniques, family systems theory, and the impact of chronic illness and disability.
  • Skill in psychosocial assessment, focused interventions, and facilitating group therapy.
  • Ability to perform interventions with all age groups and diverse cultures; organize and prioritize work; collaborate as a treatment team member.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain professional relationships; problem solve and think critically.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize demands, work with minimal supervision, and maintain regular attendance.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field required.
  • Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) required.
  • Experience in an integrated health setting preferred, including oncology patients.
  • Prior experience with adult/youth patient populations in an outpatient setting preferred.

Credentials and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required (recognized providers: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network).

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work requiring exertion up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to move objects or the human body.
