Integrated Fires Engineer
About the role
We are seeking an experienced engineer to contribute to the design of future advanced integrated networked fires capabilities in support of Homeland and Theater Defense. The ideal candidate will design and integrate multi-modal sensing phenomenology, multi-sensor data fusion, and long-range weapon technologies into a complex system of systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop novel concepts and architectures for integrating new types of active and passive sensors, weapons, and multi-mission data fusion capabilities into future combat systems and military platforms enabling long-range fires across multiple domains.
- Define element level interface requirements, information exchanges between systems, message data content, and performance required to achieve a desired effect.
- Understand and assess multi-faceted sensor (individual and networked) performance metrics as related to the needs of the combat and weapon systems across multiple mission areas.
- Understand and analyze various aspects of combat and weapon system functionality as related to integration with networks providing integrated fire control capabilities.
- Learn about specific active and passive sensor types (RF, EO, IR, ES) and their associated data characteristics, track sources, sensor designs, modes of operation, sensor capabilities, detection and characterization data, and use your knowledge to inform architecture trades, develop requirements, and assess measurements of effectiveness and performance.
- Provide subject matter expertise and lead system of systems engineering and architecture development activities with external mission partners across the multi-mission advanced kill chain development enterprise.
Requirements
- Possess a BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Have 3+ years of experience in complex system of systems engineering, integration, and analysis work.
- Have proficiency in MATLAB or similar programming languages for algorithm development and data analysis.
- Have experience and background in some or all of the following: systems architecture, requirements, interface, and algorithm prototyping and performance analysis, active and passive sensors, target tracking and sensor fusion algorithms and design concepts, command and control concepts, distributed communications systems, advanced kill chain development and analysis, integrated fire control concepts.
- Have a theoretical background or experience in some of the following: probability theory, statistical or adaptive signal processing, detection and estimation theory, information theory, data fusion, optimization theory, or a related discipline.
- Have experience solving complex system of systems problems.
- Have proficient analytical and leadership skills.
- Can perform effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Be willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time to remote sites and be comfortable working in closed areas.
- Have an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret clearance.
