Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician, Adult Primary Care

Under the direction of the integrated behavioral health services within the Department of Psychiatry, the Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician works as a member of the primary care clinic(s). The role involves collaborating with primary care providers (PCPs) to address the behavioral health and substance use needs of patients using trauma-informed, strengths-based, and evidence-based techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, warm hand-offs, crisis interventions, and psychosocial diagnoses.
• Plan and implement effective short-term treatments, evaluations, and education for patients and families.
• Provide same-day warm hand-offs to support providers in connecting patients to care.
• Assist patients requiring higher levels of care with referrals to outpatient psychiatry or community-based services.
• Collaborate with PCPs on patient treatment goals and provide consultation on behavioral health and substance use needs.
• Work closely with a team of clinicians, psychologists, and psychiatrists within the primary care clinic.
• Attend IBH, Psychiatry, and primary clinic meetings as directed by supervisor.
• Obtain continuing education to maintain licensure.
• Perform other duties as needed, adhering to hospital behavioral standards and infection control/safety procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and document encounters in medical records per department policies.
• Utilize hospital’s behavioral standards for decision-making and uphold the hospital’s mission.
• May provide supervision as needed and adhere to BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field as determined by the Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions or National Certified Counselor (NCC).
• Massachusetts license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with 3 years post-LMHC licensure. Alternatively, may consider an LCSW close to independent licensure.
• Previous experience in Integrated Behavioral Health or a medical setting preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Social Work processes and community resources related to health, illness, disability, and social determinants of health.
• Advanced interpersonal skills to interact effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
• Cultural sensitivity and comfort working with diverse racial and ethnic populations; cultural humility is essential. Bicultural/bilingual competency is a plus.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and web browsers.

Pay

Compensation range: $42.60–$51.92 per hour. This range is based on minimum job qualifications and considers factors such as education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to the role.
