About the role

Arlington County’s Department of Human Services (DHS), Behavioral Healthcare Division (BHD), seeks an Intake and Discharge Planning Assistant Supervisor for the Client Services Entry Bureau to support clinical and administrative management of intake and discharge programs. This team of eight (8) mental health professionals serves two functions: to act as the central point of service entry to adults seeking mental health and substance abuse services using the Same Day Access (SDA) model, and to provide discharge planning services for individuals hospitalized at the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI).

Responsibilities

  • Provide discharge planning services for individuals hospitalized at the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI).

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mental health or substance abuse services, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues, SDA model, and discharge planning processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Experience working with diverse populations and cultural competency. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in computer software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
