Responsibilities
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage, and medical policy requirements.
- Calculate deductibles, coinsurance, copays, and estimated patient financial responsibility.
- Communicate insurance benefits, payment expectations, and available payment options to patients.
- Complete accurate patient registration and maintain insurance and demographic information.
- Assign appropriate procedural and diagnostic codes for surgical procedures.
- Congratulate and assist patients and visitors while providing a positive patient experience.
- Answer multi-line phones and route calls professionally.
- Provide scheduling support, including communicating case additions, cancellations, and changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation within applicable patient and scheduling systems.
- Partner with clinical and business office teams to support efficient daily operations.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma.
- Working knowledge of surgical routine and medical terminology.
- Possession of a bachelor's degree related to healthcare.
- Preferred certifications: AHIMA or AAPC certification, Registration, Business Office (billing/coding claims), and Health Information Management experience.
