About the role
The Insurance Assistant is responsible for submitting and following up on claims to third party payers in order to promote prompt reimbursements. The Insurance Assistant is also responsible for monitoring the status of claims to determine which claims may need to be corrected and if needed, appealed.
Responsibilities
- Submit and follow up on claims to third party payers
- Maintain accurate records of claim status
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in claims
- Appeal claims as necessary
- Communicate with third party payers to ensure timely reimbursements
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years prior experience working with medical insurance or billing
- Broad understanding of medical insurance industry
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in various software applications including Word, Excel, and medical billing software
- GPMS experience strongly preferred
