Insurance Defense Trial Attorney - Northern California

About the role

We are expanding our Northern California Staff Counsel teams to include Trial Attorneys at various locations including San Luis Obispo, Silicon Valley, the Bay Area, Central Valley/Fresno, and Sacramento. These positions involve remote work and require handling cases from intake to trial or settlement.

Responsibilities

• Litigate low to moderate complexity and exposure cases
• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs
• Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials
• Inform leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges
• Consult with the Claims Department on legal aspects of files and jurisdictional issues
• Manage all phases of cases from intake to resolution
• Handle second chair trials and manage cases of moderate complexity/exposure
• Support senior attorneys in cases of greater complexity/exposure
• Receive developmental assignments of matters of high complexity/exposure

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Licensed to practice law in applicable states required upon hire
• Three years of insurance defense litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred
• Second chair trial experience strongly preferred
• Multistate jurisdictional practice preferred
