Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney
We have a position open for a Louisiana and/or Mississippi licensed attorney to join our litigation team in New Orleans, LA.
About the role
The ideal candidate has 3-10 years of defense-side litigation experience, preferably representing insurance carriers, businesses, professionals, healthcare providers, contractors, or other institutional clients. The attorney should have experience managing civil litigation from initial case evaluation through discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial or other final resolution. Experience in insurance defense, general casualty, professional liability, medical malpractice, construction, transportation, maritime, employment, or other complex liability litigation is highly relevant.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth legal research using Westlaw to support case preparation and legal analysis.
- Draft and review a variety of legal documents.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Represent clients in litigation proceedings, administrative hearings, and negotiations with confidence and professionalism.
- Maintain organized case files and manage deadlines efficiently within a busy law office environment.
- Stay current on relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide timely updates to clients and team members.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience handling defense-side civil litigation, preferably involving insurance defense, general casualty, professional liability, medical malpractice, construction, transportation, maritime, employment, or other complex liability matters.
- Proven experience with defense-side representation of institutional or insured clients.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active licensure to practice law in Louisiana and/or Mississippi.
- Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive documents.
- Demonstrated ability in legal drafting and negotiation with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of litigation procedures and experience representing clients in court or administrative hearings is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Pay
$95,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
