Description Responsible for following up with insurance companies and patients to obtain payment on accounts. Contact insurance companies by telephone to follow up and collect payments within established timeframes. Contact patients to obtain assistance in resolving accounts and securing payment. Inform management of payors causing reimbursement delays and report contract discrepancies to the appropriate level of management. Work assigned account volumes in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Document all actions taken on patient accounts using the appropriate collector activity codes. Comply with HIPAA guidelines. Escalate unresolved accounts to insurance company management to expedite reimbursement. Utilize computer-based worklists and all available systems (e.g., WebMD, Availity) to obtain claim status and resolve accounts. Ensure all required insurance carrier documentation is obtained for payment resubmission. Review incoming correspondence and take corrective action as needed. Respond to insurance company and patient inquiries in a timely manner. Understand and analyze managed care contracts, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG codes to ensure accurate reimbursement. Review reimbursement payments to verify accuracy and ensure proper insurance adjustments. Identify uncollectible accounts for potential bad debt and submit recommendations to the supervisor for approval. Achieve performance standards established for the individual, unit, and department. Meet goals established for the individual, unit, and department. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Skills & Qualifications Additional Information Regarding Qualifications Must be able to operate a 10-key calculator. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. Strong math skills. Microsoft Office experience preferred. Proficient in managed care terminology and reimbursement practices. Minimum Required Experience 2 years Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of South Miami, FL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
