About the role

Northwest Partners is engaged in a strategic initiative with a well-established insurance organization and seeks an experienced Business Systems Analyst to help bridge business strategy and enterprise technology solutions. This role is ideal for someone with deep property and casualty insurance knowledge who can communicate effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex business needs into scalable system solutions while supporting long-term technology initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand business objectives, system capabilities, and operational processes
  • Gather, analyze, document, and validate complex business and functional requirements
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications for technology teams and third-party partners
  • Lead requirements workshops and facilitate discussions between business users and technical teams
  • Develop process flows, workflows, and solution documentation to support system enhancements and implementations
  • Communicate technical concepts, including APIs, integrations, and system interactions, in a way that aligns business and technology teams
  • Evaluate enterprise system dependencies and identify impacts across integrated platforms
  • Support solution design discussions by understanding system architecture and long-term business implications
  • Identify project risks, issues, and potential solution strategies while providing regular project status updates
  • Coordinate priorities with technology teams to support successful project delivery
  • Lead user acceptance testing activities and validate that delivered solutions meet business requirements
  • Prepare training materials and support end-user adoption of new functionality and system enhancements
  • Produce reports and data extracts for internal and external business partners
  • Mentor team members and provide guidance on business analysis best practices
  • Participate in projects requiring occasional travel as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst supporting enterprise technology initiatives
  • Strong Property & Casualty insurance experience, including Excess & Surplus lines
  • Deep understanding of insurance business processes and enterprise insurance technology platforms
  • Ability to participate in solution architecture discussions without requiring hands-on software development experience
  • Experience discussing APIs, system integrations, data flows, and enterprise application architecture with technical and business stakeholders
  • Proven ability to write detailed business and functional requirements for internal development teams and third-party vendors
  • Experience supporting enterprise software implementations and the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong knowledge of workflow analysis, business process modeling, and requirements management
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore technology teams
  • Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to mentor peers and build collaborative relationships across business and technology organizations

Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise insurance platforms such as policy administration, rating, underwriting, CRM, or workflow solutions is preferred
  • Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, Unqork, or similar enterprise technologies is a plus
