Instrumentation Technician - Chickasaw, AL

About the role

The Instrumentation Technician conducts calibration of electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, both field and control room, and installs instrument loops. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman, with duties assigned according to specific procedures and frequent work checks.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inventory, and catalog instruments for calibration according to construction schedule.
• Set up calibration and loop files.
• Check installation of instrument loops and coordinate/perform loop checks, including checkout with computers as required.
• Maintain installation and completion records, loop drawings, and tubing runs (air and control).
• Work startup following established procedures.
• Inspect meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations.
• Test accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters, and other instruments to locate defective components.
• Remove defective instruments, decontaminate, disassemble, clean, and replace defective parts.
• Lubricate instruments and replace defective wiring and tubing.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisor.

Requirements

• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in instrumentation (depending on mechanic level).
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Signed acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol, and Contraband Policy.
• Compliance with company and client job site safety requirements.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Physical Involvement

• Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc., above and below ground level.
• Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, and structures.
• Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials.
• Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment.
• Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
• Carrying objects, tools, and equipment.
• Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, and crawling.
• Seeing and hearing with or without correction.

Pay

Final agreed-upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
