Instrumentation Technician

About the role

This position will include both field and office tasks related to the implementation and management of various geotechnical and structural instrumentation projects. The fieldwork will include equipment installation, manual readings, equipment maintenance, site visits, and other project site activities. The majority of the field work will be performed on active construction sites. The office role will involve inventory management, testing instruments prior to mobilization, preparing field reports, preparing monitoring figures, generating monitoring reports, programming, and organizing the instrument fleet.

Responsibilities

• Install equipment, take manual readings, perform equipment maintenance, and conduct site visits on active construction sites
• Manage inventory, test instruments prior to mobilization, prepare field reports and monitoring figures, generate monitoring reports, and organize the instrument fleet
• Manage equipment including cameras, water level indicators, electrical resistivity equipment, vibration monitors, data loggers, automated motorized total stations, cellular modems, sensors, and associated hardware
• Lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Work under the direct supervision of a Project Manager
• Travel and work nights and weekends when necessary

Qualifications

• Associate's degree with a technical concentration
• 3+ years of relevant experience in New York City
• Highly motivated self-starter with a professional attitude
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• A "can-do" attitude dedicated to the successful operation and assembly of equipment
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD
• Ability to work independently
• Valid New York Driver's License
• Ability to work outdoors during all seasons
• Ability to use harnesses, ladders, and personnel lifts
• Detail-oriented, energetic, handy, responsive, responsible, punctual, and self-motivated
• Eager to learn with an interest in electronics, computer technology, and their application to geotechnical engineering and design

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.
