Instrumentation Field Engineer

About the role

In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supports the lead discipline engineer in coordinating the technical resolution and ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, standard installation details, and local/national regulatory safety codes
• Supports and coordinates across disciplines and with Engineering to provide timely and accurate information for the Construction teams
• Verifies compliance with Permit and License requirements
• Performs field verification of installed commodities
• Issue punch list for deficient or defective works
• Generate and verify punch list items, generate and disposition Non-Conformance Reports, verify upon completion
• Assist construction team with interpretation of design drawings and standard installation details
• Interface with Resident Engineering function for any clarification, raise Field Change Documents as needed
• Ensure all materials and equipment on the site fully comply with international standard and technical specification requirements
• Perform internal discipline walkdowns to support system turnover, and final turnover walkdowns with CSU and / or Client

Requirements

• Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Skills

• Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation
• Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy
• Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes
• Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies
• Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities
• Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs)
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards
• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment
• Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents
• Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce

Working Conditions

Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
