About the Role
Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of instrumentation and controls (I&C) engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Performs work which involves conventional I&C engineering practice but may include complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Requires broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and good knowledge of related practices.
A fully competent I&C engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the functional area, plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Provides procurement, field engineering including walk downs, modifications/maintenance, and testing support.
Responsibilities
- Perform I&C systems design and advanced control techniques.
- Develop design change packages and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
- Conduct uncertainty analysis and demonstrated accuracy calculations.
- Apply control system theory and digital/analog control/measurement techniques.
- Utilize sensing/sampling techniques and physical installation practices.
- Prepare procurement and design specifications.
- Provide field engineering support, including walk downs and testing.
- Supervise or coordinate work of multidiscipline engineers, CAD technicians, and other support staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field from an accredited curriculum.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience and 1 year of nuclear power plant experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in electrical engineering, evidenced by completion of Engineering Graduate Progression Plan or equivalent post-graduate education.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3/S-4 medical qualifications.
- Willingness to assume rotational "on-call" assignments, including 24/7 availability.
- Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and travel to plant locations as required.
