About the role

This opportunity supports facilities engineering activities within an upstream oil and gas environment, with a focus on field walks, instrumentation and control drawing markups, Management of Change routing, and operational engineering support. The role contributes to the safe and efficient performance of instrumentation, medium and low voltage electrical equipment, control systems, SCADA, DCS, and PLC applications. This position offers broad involvement across brownfield upgrades, greenfield projects, shutdown support, troubleshooting, and engineering deliverables review.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for facilities, including field walks, operational changes, repairs, alterations, and shutdown activities.
• Support brownfield upgrade and greenfield project activities.
• Review and prepare engineering deliverables such as one-line diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, control narratives, wiring diagrams, installation details, instrument index documents, and cable schedules.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams including facilities engineering, machinery engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel.
• Troubleshoot instrument loops, control systems, and tuning issues.
• Specify and apply pressure, flow, and level measurement systems.
• Support retrofitting and upgrading PLCs, DCS, fire and gas systems, and other protective systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment and power distribution issues.
• Develop dashboards for operations troubleshooting and support using analytics and visualization software such as Ignition, SEEQ, and Spotfire.
• Implement and support SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated work experience supporting upstream oil and gas production operations.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, medium and low voltage electrical equipment, and control systems surveillance, analysis, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and review P&IDs, electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, and instrument loop wiring diagrams.
• Project management capability within engineering and operations support environments.
• Knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage motor control systems, including contactors, smart overloads, soft starts, VFDs, and communication pathways.
• Experience specifying LV/MV transformers, switchgear, protective relays, motor control centers, variable speed drives, motors, and power cables.
• Familiarity with networking and field communications including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, RS-485, RS-232, MQTT, radio, fiber optic communications, and managed network switches.
• Knowledge of power systems and generation equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with protective relay setting, testing, and coordination.
• Application of instrumentation and electrical equipment in hazardous locations.
• Familiarity with analytics and visualization software such as Ignition, SEEQ, and Spotfire.
• Strong knowledge of applicable design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria, including ISA, National Electrical Code, ISA84, API RP 551, NETA MTS, and NFPA 70E.
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken, for technical and business communication.
