SUMMARY

Instructs students in general music in one or two buildings. Provides engaging lessons following district curriculum. Stays current in music education and instructional methods. Serves as an active member of the school staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Fulfills curriculum aligned to state/national standards.
  • Establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicates these to students.
  • Utilizes various instructional techniques and media, adapting to physical constraints and student needs.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Applies behavior management strategies consistent with district and building philosophy.
  • Maintains appropriate records and grades.
  • Takes an active role in professional learning communities.
  • Moves between buildings, sets up classrooms, and transports materials.
  • Manages inventory of instruments and equipment, budgets for supplies, and requisitions items.
  • Plans and directs performances.
  • Supervises classroom and students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.
  • Maine certification with endorsement #614.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Mathematical skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, pushing, lifting up to 25 lbs, using manual dexterity, and adjusting focus.
  • Work environment is usually loud, requiring continuous standing, walking, and occasional sitting and talking.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of current research and theory in music education.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.

PAY

$45,518.26 - $85,857.57 (SY26/27)
