POSITION OVERVIEW
As an Instrument Person at LJA Surveying, you will be responsible for transporting and setting up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for survey.
TYPICAL DAY
- Party Chief gives direction for this position
- Transport and set up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for survey
- Clear brush or trees away from survey line
- Lays out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements
- Holding prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points
- Measures how far different points are from each other horizontally
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
HS Graduate or GED
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds
- Driving to and from various project sites
- Walking and working outdoors under variable weather conditions
