Instrument Operator / Land Surveyor

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, inspect, and maintain survey equipment.
• Operate data collectors, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, levels, and GPS-RTK Receivers.
• Perform field work to ascertain precise measurements and locations of natural features and man-made structures.
• Conduct construction staking for streets, utilities, drains, and lot layouts.
• Compile detailed notes, sketches, and records of survey data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Provide guidance and direction to Rodmen and less experienced crew members.
• Perform minor field calculations and spatial data analysis.
• Afford assistance to the Party Chief in addressing moderately complex issues and running the crew in their absence.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the crew complies with project requirements.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED certification.
• At least 2 years of experience in land surveying or a related role.
• Experience with Leica and/or Trimble.
• Proficiency in operating and obtaining land survey data using advanced surveying instruments.
• Ability to perform and analyze technical calculations independently.
• Working knowledge of land surveying procedures and relevant equipment.
• Ability to address basic field issues and escalate more complex problems appropriately.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment up to 35 lbs. and work in various terrains and weather conditions.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and capable of occasional leadership within the field crew.
