About the Role

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Instrument Man to support our survey field crews in collecting accurate data for a variety of land development and infrastructure projects. This position works under the direction of the Survey Crew Chief and plays a key role in daily field operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working outdoors in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support efficient project completion by assisting the Survey Crew Chief with daily field operations and data collection
  • Operate and help maintain survey equipment, including total stations, GPS units, and data collectors
  • Set up and break down survey instruments to ensure proper calibration
  • Collect and record field data accurately and efficiently
  • Mark points, stake locations, and assist with construction layout activities
  • Maintain clear and organized field notes and documentation
  • Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites
  • Adhere to company safety policies and field procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 0–2 years of experience in surveying preferred
  • Basic understanding of surveying principles
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of environments and weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 pounds over uneven or rough ground
  • May need to walk, stand, bend, or kneel for extended periods
  • May need to clear vegetation, dig holes, and drive stakes using hand tools
  • Must be able to perform the physical tasks required to carry out the essential duties of the position safely and effectively

Pay

US Pay Range: $22 USD - $26 USD (based on candidate experience, qualifications, and market considerations).
