Instrument Fitter V

About the role

Instrument technicians are responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating electronic equipment and gauges that control, regulate, and/or monitor a mechanical system.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, isometric drawings, engineering instructions, and manufacture instructions
• Install, repair, maintain, and calibrate electronic equipment, controls, and measuring devices
• Test and analyze electronic and measuring equipment for accuracy and functionality
• Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems
• Complete reports on tests, repairs, and installations for all work requested

Requirements

• 4+ years' experience in instrumentation or comparable level of knowledge
• All journeymen tools and experience with associated power tools (see tool list below)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and other required documentation
• Ability to check performance using testing and measuring instruments and make necessary adjustments
• Knowledge of electrical theory and how to apply it to connecting, wiring, and calibrating electronic devices
• Knowledge of working with gauges and other measurement devices
• Ability to work on low and high pressure tubing/piping systems
• Ability to work with precision instruments and tools
• Willingness to follow all company and project work policies and procedures
• Ability to work at heights up to 300' utilizing proper fall protection, including climbing ladders and stairways and working off platforms
• Ability to work outside in the elements including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fall arrest harness, face shield, and ear plugs
