About the role
Jobot is partnering with a reputable utility company to recruit a skilled Instrument and Controls (I&C) Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of critical plant instrumentation and control systems. This is a hands-on, field-based position ideal for someone with strong technical expertise and a commitment to maintaining safe and reliable operations in a power generation or utility environment.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs for all control systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvements in processes and systems.
- Conduct tests and inspections on control systems and equipment to ensure they comply with safety standards and regulations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all maintenance work, system modifications, and repairs.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in control systems technology and suggest ways to apply this knowledge to improve our operations.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrument and Controls Technician or similar role.
- Proven experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Extensive knowledge of power plant operations and control systems.
- Proficiency in ladder logic programming.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex control systems.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred qualifications
- A degree in Engineering, or a related field, is preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications are an added advantage.
