About the role

Jobot is partnering with a reputable utility company to recruit a skilled Instrument and Controls (I&C) Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of critical plant instrumentation and control systems. This is a hands-on, field-based position ideal for someone with strong technical expertise and a commitment to maintaining safe and reliable operations in a power generation or utility environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faults in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs for all control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvements in processes and systems.
  • Conduct tests and inspections on control systems and equipment to ensure they comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all maintenance work, system modifications, and repairs.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in control systems technology and suggest ways to apply this knowledge to improve our operations.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrument and Controls Technician or similar role.
  • Proven experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of power plant operations and control systems.
  • Proficiency in ladder logic programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex control systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred qualifications

  • A degree in Engineering, or a related field, is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications are an added advantage.
