About the role

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine offers a four‑year residency in Comparative Ophthalmology. The program provides advanced training in diagnosing, treating, and preventing ophthalmic diseases in small and large animals, prepares residents for ABVO board certification, and strengthens clinical, teaching, and research skills. Residents gain experience in patient care, student instruction, and publishable research, aiming to become evidence‑based clinicians for academic or private ophthalmology practice. No additional degree is awarded. Appointments are annual and renewed based on satisfactory progress; residents receive performance evaluations at least twice yearly. The selected candidate will be appointed as an Instructor/Resident and will work under five faculty ophthalmologists alongside two residents and two VOTS nurses in a service that handles a diverse small and large animal caseload, including exotic and zoo species, within a state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic suite at the MSU Veterinary Medical Center.

Review of applications begins on 11/16/2026.
