Instructor Pool- ENGLISH

This is an ongoing instructor pool for the English department. When specific teaching needs arise, the department will review applications and contact candidates to confirm continued interest and schedule interviews.

About the Role

The instructor will be under the general supervision of the department chair and will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Workload includes preparing for and holding classes (face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online), maintaining currency in the content area, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. Additional duties may include advising students and other service to the department, as assigned by the chair or dean.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
• Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
• Serve as an initial point of contact for students regarding specific course content and expectations.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the needs of the department, or significant progress toward a doctorate degree, or, in rare circumstances, post-baccalaureate certification or licensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience, as established appropriate for the teaching position.
• Depending on the program, specific certification/licensure or clinical experience may be required.
