Adjunct Instructor English (Pool)
About the role
Dyersburg State Community College invites applicants for English adjunct instructors for day, evening, and online classes held in Dyersburg, Covington, Paris, or at one of our other off-campus centers. Initial assignment may be at one of our teaching locations, but the official work station assignment may change each semester.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses for discipline in Covington, Dyersburg, and/or Paris
- Prepare course materials
- Evaluate student learning, maintain class records, and submit required reports on time
- Become certified and fully use the course management system (eLearn) for all classes
- Attend required meetings
- Report attendance, early alert notifications, and final grades prior to the established deadline
- Communicate curriculum and personnel needs or changes as appropriate to assigned chair/dean
Working conditions
Sedentary: Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
Required qualifications
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in English
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and other college personnel required
