Instructor or Assistant Professor, Nurse Education
Position Information
Del Mar College is seeking faculty members who are innovative thinkers, adaptive, engaging teachers across modalities, leaders in meaningful service and engaging in community outreach. The purpose of this full time, tenure track position is to teach required contact hours/lecture equated per regular semester that could include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Nurse Education faculty are required to work with students of varied backgrounds, including traditional, nontraditional, and dual-credit/early-college students; to maintain professional standards of competence in the discipline and teaching methodology through professional development/engagement; to develop appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community; and to meet all fundamental responsibilities for faculty as outlined in Del Mar College policy.
Job Duties
- Teach nursing courses to include clinical supervision in health care facilities of 10 to 15 students according to Texas Board of Nursing requirements.
- Teach 18 contact hours per regular semester that could include theory/labs, online or hybrid courses, and clinical.
- Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
- Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
- Maintain continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Nursing.
- Three (3) years clinical work experience.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare provider certification.
- Current negative Tuberculin (TB) and other required immunizations as stipulated by healthcare agencies.
