Instructor of Math

About the Role

This is a 9-month non-tenure-track position located on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Summer appointment is dependent upon program needs and funding availability. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, or as required by teaching and operational needs. The faculty member may be assigned to teach at various campus locations or through approved instructional modalities. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship and serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students, including general education core curriculum.
• Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, and papers.
• Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
• Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
• Provide academic support and guidance through office hours, assignment feedback, and mentoring.
• Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student engagement.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field and improve teaching skills.
• Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings and contribute to program development.
• Serve in institutional roles, including college committees, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

Requirements

• Earned master’s degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university with at least 18 graduate hours with a MATH prefix.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction.
• Ability to interact professionally and collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.

Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. Anticipated start date: Fall 2026/Spring 2027.
