Instructor of Health Information Management, Tenure-Track
Position Summary
MCC instructors are higher-education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies in instruction. They assess student learning to ensure student success, staying abreast of trends in the discipline. Our instructors collaborate within the College as discipline experts, helping the College reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students throughout our community.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
- Be available to teach in-person courses as scheduled.
- Assist in curriculum development through preparation of additional courses, seminars, or labs consistent with the needs of the college and the community.
- Participate as a faculty member in college governance, advisement of students, on college committees, and in continuing professional development.
- Provide appropriate cooperative assistance to the faculty members of the Health information Management Department, within the Math, Science, and Health Services Division, and the faculty and staff at large in striving for educational excellence.
- Participation in assessment of learning at the classroom, course, departmental, and college level.
Departmental Specific Functions and Responsibilities
MCC’s AAS in Health Information management is a CAHIIM-accredited program. The successful candidate will teach across the HIM curriculum, support program accreditation requirements, and contribute to departmental initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and 2,000 hours of related work experience.
- Hold an active credential from AHIMA.
- Demonstrate comprehensive expertise across AHIMA’s core competency domains.
- Understand and commit to community college mission and students.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in HIM or related discipline.
- Active RHIA credential from AHIMACancer Registry Management experience.

Schedule
The position is full-time and tenured-track, with nine months of teaching per year.
