Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is a multi-campus college with locations in Troy and Malta, New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The college serves nearly 9,000 students each year and is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training, distance learning, and service to a diverse student population.

About the Role

Hudson Valley Community College seeks experienced, dynamic, and caring individuals to join its Faculty team. Teaching assignments may include weekend, evening, and online courses. This position is supported by SUNY’s PRODiG+CC Program, which aims to promote recruitment, opportunity, diversity, inclusion, and growth within community colleges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in Mathematics.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Participate on departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees to build community and support professional development.
  • Perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract at the direction of the Department Chairperson.
  • Teach courses assigned at the HVCC main campus and/or the Malta campus.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Other Master’s Degrees may be considered if at least 15 credits in graduate-level Mathematics courses have been completed.
  • Willingness and ability to teach a variety of Mathematics courses at various levels.
  • Daytime on-campus availability; may include evening courses.
  • Applicants must currently hold unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Are current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.
  • Come from a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates).
  • Were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree).
  • Have overcome adversity.
  • Are AmeriCorps alumni or veterans.
  • Have experience engaging, facilitating, or enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in campus communities, including personal, academic, work, volunteer, or community service experience.

As part of the application process, candidates must respond in 750 words or less to the following prompt:

Pay

The minimum salary for this position is $53,000. Faculty appointments may be at the instructor or assistant professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days). There may be potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.

Schedule

  • Annual assigned teaching load is between 30 and 33 contact hours, typically distributed as 18 contact hours in the fall semester and 15 contact hours in the spring semester.
  • Teaching load may include evening, weekend, and/or online assignments.
  • Position begins January 19, 2027.
