The Instructor in Science Education will teach upper-level courses in Life and Earth Sciences for PreK-12 teachers, participate in departmental and college committees, advise and mentor students, and assist with program assessment. Opportunities may include supervising outreach and training activities with local K-12 schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach upper-level Life and Earth Sciences courses focused on content and pedagogy for PreK-12 teachers
- Advise and mentor students, especially in the Teacher Education Program
- Serve on departmental and college committees
- Assist with assessment and other departmental duties
- Potentially supervise or conduct outreach/training with local schools

Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Science Education or a closely related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to teach innovatively and engage students at the undergraduate level
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Virginia Standards of Learning
- Teaching experience in PreK-12 school settings
