About the role
This full-time, on-campus faculty position at Clovis Community College serves as the Program Director and instructor for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. The role requires a physical presence on campus to fulfill teaching duties, conduct office hours, and meet other college-related responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach 12 credit hours each Fall and Spring semester, including day, evening, and online courses. Teaching assignments may include dual-credit courses for high school students.
- Teach additional courses, including those for high school students, as part of the contract or on an overload basis by agreement with the Division Chair and Executive Vice President.
- Consult with students during office hours and participate in orientation, registration, committees, councils, in-service, student advisement, and professional development activities.
- Collaborate with division members to determine course content, curricula, textbooks, equipment, and assessment practices.
- Serve as Program Director, maintaining contact with program personnel, clinical sites, and students, including weekend schedules as needed.
- Maintain and document current licensing and certifications for personnel, program, and equipment.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate Diagnostic Medical Sonography faculty.
- Develop and submit course syllabi for all assigned courses, tailored to instructional modalities (online or face-to-face).
- Deliver well-prepared, organized lectures and activities for in-person and online formats to facilitate student mastery of course learning outcomes.
- Establish and maintain an effective learning environment across diverse modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, asynchronous and synchronous online, dual credit, and Early College High School instruction.
- Assess and communicate student proficiency in achieving course learning outcomes, documenting findings in formal assessment reports.
- Utilize technology (e.g., Canvas, Starfish, MS Office, Internet) for instruction and provide timely feedback on student progress.
- Maintain a daily on-campus presence Monday–Thursday and a minimum of 5 in-person office hours per week.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of college policies and procedures.
- Perform all faculty responsibilities, including teaching, service, assessment, and professional development.
- Correlate didactic and clinical instruction, supervise and evaluate students, and support student recruitment, program development, and public awareness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Current Diagnostic Medical Sonography license in New Mexico.
- National certification in Abdominal Sonography.
- Minimum of two years clinical experience as a registered sonographer.
- Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and educational theories/techniques (e.g., completed courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on learning theory, curriculum design, teaching methodology, or assessment).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- National certification in Abdominal and OB/GYN or Vascular sonography.
- Experience in supervision, instruction, and evaluation of sonography students.

Schedule
Full-time, on-campus position with hours varying based on course requirements. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
