Instructor - Healthcare Administration

About the role
The Department of Healthcare Studies at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a full-time, 10 month, tenure-track Instructor position with primary responsibility in the Healthcare Administration (HCA) program. Major responsibilities include teaching online courses, advising students, and engaging in scholarship activities related to healthcare administration or a closely related field. The successful candidate will review and develop course content, prepare lesson plans, assess student performance, and provide academic advising and counseling. In addition, this faculty member will participate in departmental, School, and University service activities and maintain an active scholarship agenda in support of tenure requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teaching (70%)
- Teaches a 4-4 course load each academic year (a course refers to a 3-credit course or equivalent)
- Creates effective course materials, as provided in Teaching Portfolio, and demonstrates successful student learning outcomes
- Uses student instructional assessment survey (IAS) results to inform continuous improvement
- Engages in academic advisement to facilitate student success
- Holds regular office hours
- Scholarly Activity (5-10%)
- Engages in scholarly activities to produce scholarly publications, presentations, and related scholarly work
- Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field
- Service (20-25%)
- Actively participates in department level meetings and serves on at least one additional department committee per academic year
- Serves on college level committees
- Engages in enrollment and retention initiatives
- Assists with program accreditation processes
- Attends on-campus and off-campus Open House programs and recruitment events
- Provides service to the department, university, community, and profession
- Attends University events
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in a field related to healthcare administration by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Demonstrated teaching experience
- Demonstrated research experience with scholarship focused on healthcare administration or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses related to healthcare administration, or a related topic
- Online teaching experience
- Experience in administration/committee management
- Experience in academic advisement
- Evidence of scholarly activity (e.g., peer-reviewed research, presentations)
