About the role

MATC is seeking a passionate individual to join our team who shares the same passion in serving this purpose. The successful candidate will teach Environmental Health and Water Quality Technology program courses, develop curriculum, and manage classroom/laboratory activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Environmental Health/Public Health with a focus in Environmental Health or a related field such as Environmental Sciences and Safety.
  • Minimum of two (2) years full-time or equivalent (4000 hours) of Environmental Health experience which includes two (2) or more of the following areas: Food and Dairy Safety; Air Quality Monitoring; Industrial Hygiene and Water Quality.
  • Two (2) years of teaching Environmental Health course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years.
  • Preferred: Registered Sanitarian (RS) with WI Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) - National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).

Skills

  • Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning.
  • Effective communication through both oral and written means.
  • Knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques.
  • Ability to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.
  • Embrace and demonstrate the MATC Standards of Teaching Excellence in development and delivery of instruction.

Pay

The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour.

Schedule

This is a part-time faculty pool position. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin.
