About the Role

The College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Instructor for the Dialogues of Justice and Civic Life, an internationally recognized, innovative, and interdisciplinary core curriculum blending collaborative in-class activities with real-world experience. The successful applicant will teach assigned courses on campus in Boca Raton, Florida. Undergraduate classes are conducted Monday through Thursday in 2.5-hour sessions, offered in four-week terms. The anticipated start date is January 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct a 4/4 course load on campus in accordance with college guidelines, including:
    • Engaging with the college’s assessment program of student performance
    • Providing timely student feedback
    • Submitting university reports
    • Contributing to initiatives enhancing teaching effectiveness
  • Engage in ongoing scholarly activity and research via publications, conference presentations, and/or leadership in professional organizations or associations.
  • Participate in service to the university community, including:
    • Membership on committees and task forces
    • Assistance with student activities
    • Support for admission goals
    • Mentorship of students
  • Actively participate in professional development programs offered by the university’s committee for Faculty Standards and Professional Development and seek additional opportunities via appropriate organizations.

Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in a discipline or closely related field appropriate for the position, such as:
    • Criminal justice
    • Law enforcement
    • Criminology
    • Corrections
    • Victimology
    • Forensic investigations
    • Emerging technologies in criminal justice (e.g., artificial intelligence or predictive policing)
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.

Skills

  • Proficiency with technology for instructional delivery, including learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and presentation software.
  • Appreciation of different learning styles and ability to incorporate them into instructional delivery.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative professional willing to engage in leadership activities advancing the interests of the college.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching at a college or university level.
