Instructor Cosmetology

Indian River State College is seeking a passionate and experienced Cosmetology Instructor to share their craft, mentor aspiring professionals, and help students build meaningful careers in the beauty industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lectures, laboratory, and clinical instruction that meets curriculum objectives.
• Oversee salon activities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive learning environment.
• Maintain accurate student records, support student success, and foster an inclusive, culturally competent learning environment.
• Participate in ongoing program and curriculum development, ensuring relevancy to industry trends.
• Engage in continuous improvement activities and contribute to accreditation requirements.
• Affordability: Provide educational support during office hours or by appointment, adapting to diverse learning needs.
• Integrate industry-recognized credentials into the cosmetology program.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Associate Degree or higher in Cosmetology or a related field preferred.
• Valid Florida cosmetologist and/or barbering license.
• Minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in a salon setting and/or cosmetology education.
• Demonstrated expertise in cosmetology, including hair styling, coloring, and skin care.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and educational technology.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Previous teaching experience in cosmetology.
• Strong background in curriculum development and program improvement preferred.
