Instructor, Community Recreation (Metro): Module 1

About the role
Facilitates wellness classes (Sound Baths, Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation/Guided Relaxation, Stretch & Restore) to support physical strength, flexibility, mindfulness, and overall well-being. Designs and leads sessions for student populations in both in-person and virtual formats, adapting instruction to accommodate varying skill levels and individual needs. Creates a supportive environment that fosters personal growth and encourages healthy lifestyle habits. Integrates breathwork and meditation techniques throughout instruction.
Must hold current certifications in one of the following: Yoga RYT 200/500 through Yoga Alliance, Tai Chi ATCQA, TCHI, or Qigong.
Responsibilities
- Provides instruction to students and community members.
- Develops and presents a curriculum that provides a full experience and is structured to accommodate all fitness levels.
- Sets up and cleans up before and after each class.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Current CPR/first aid certifications.
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience.
- Basic knowledge of fundamental subject area concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of the class.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of the community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with community-based instruction.
- Professional presentation skills.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Work may be performed in a normal, professional office environment with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation.
- Work may be partially performed in environments with sufficient noise that may require shouting to be heard.
- Work may be partially performed outdoors without protection from weather conditions.
- Work may be partially performed in and/or around a swimming pool, requiring proficiency in swimming.
Pay
$30.00/hour
Schedule
Hours depend on program needs; days, evenings, and weekends may be required. Flexibility is necessary.
