About the Role

The Department of Communication Studies & Modern Languages in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks a non-tenure-track Instructor who is a communication generalist. The successful candidate will teach primarily service-level courses such as public speaking, with a willingness to teach other courses in their area of interest or as needed by the department.

Applications of instructional technology and pedagogical research are supported through the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Office of Online Learning. Successful candidates will contribute to the development of innovative curricula and delivery strategies, including traditional, blended, and online formats, and participate in initiatives promoting student success, retention, and degree completion.

Responsibilities

• Teach a 15-hour course load per semester
• Participate in service activities, including active involvement in recruitment and retention efforts
• Provide undergraduate advising
• Serve on department, college, and university committees
• Work with student organizations
• Contribute to the departmental Speaker’s Lab
• Teach courses in the college’s Professional Studies program
• Assist the department and college as needed

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Communication Studies or a closely related field from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university
• Successful, relevant experience teaching at the university level
• Willingness to work with student organizations and serve on committees
• Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to enhance or provide instruction online using a Learning Management System
• Demonstrated commitment to collegiality within the university community
