About the role
This position plans and delivers curriculum within the Building Maintenance program, aligning with the Basic Building Maintenance Curriculum. The role includes teaching a variety of non-credit lecture and lab courses, assessing student learning outcomes, and fostering a safe learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Delivers learning activities to achieve course outcomes in key areas including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, drywall & painting, and general maintenance.
- Provides a learning environment that enhances academic progress and maintains up-to-date academic and attendance records.
- Evaluates and grades student work, provides well-defined goals for student achievement, and collaborates with other instructors and staff.
- Maintains and updates course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintains student safety and monitors their performance in program labs.
- Communicates effectively with students, staff, and administration, and participates in professional development activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in building maintenance or facilities management.
- Relevant certifications or licenses in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general maintenance.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to travel between campuses and work in various environments.
- Proficiency in current industry technology and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
- Sensitivity to community needs.
Qualifications
- Education and/or training in building maintenance or related fields.
- Prior teaching or training experience, especially in apprenticeship or workforce development programs.
- Experience with institutions of higher education.
