Instructor/Assistant Professor - Pediatric Neurology (College of Nursing - Jackson, TN)

Responsibilities

Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients with neurological conditions according to approved protocol and acceptable standards.

Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician.

Participates in the design and revision of protocols.

Collaborates with Medical Physicians and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients.

Makes referrals as appropriate.

Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.

Develops strong partnerships with patients, family members, fellow providers/nurses and support staff.

Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.

Manages the care of children with neurological conditions, developing education plans for families, and ordering appropriate consultations and referrals when indicated.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required. (Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree preferred.)
• Three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. (Experience in the role of an APRN preferred.)
• Current DEA certification and must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
• Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee is required.
• Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
