Instructor Assistant

About the role

The Key Training Center has been serving Citrus County for over 57 years, providing care and support to 300 clients each day. We strive to embody kindness, love, dignity, and respect in everything we do.

Responsibilities

• Continually supervise program participants to ensure their safety and welfare.
• Absorb and assist in daily instructional processes as directed by the instructor.
• Escort and assist program participants to and from various destinations.
• Record daily participant performance data.
• Provide physical assistance to participants with self-help needs, personal hygiene, toileting, and dressing.
• Supervise assigned participants during snack and mealtime, ensuring safety and encouraging good table manners.
• Assist in group activities and recreational outings, ensuring participation and proper supervision.
• Implement and oversee behavior intervention procedures, recording and charting data as necessary.
• Support work activities, including setting up work stations, quality control, and recording individual work time and results.
• Assist in transporting raw and finished work products as needed.
• Attend staff meetings to participate in service planning.
• Oversee assigned tasks or learning objectives in the absence of the instructor.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent certification required.
• Prior instructor assistance experience helpful but not required.

Skills

Ability to interact courteously, tactfully, and efficiently with program participants, staff members, family members, other caregivers, independent support coordinators, and other support providers. Demonstrated emotional stability and maturity, genuine interest in working with program participants, and willingness to comply with in-service and training mandates.
