Instructor, Arts, Culture & Media, Summer 2026
About the role
The Department of Arts, Culture and Media, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking instructors for Summer 2026 to teach various fine art, art history, graphic design, journalism, music, theater, and film and video production courses.
Responsibilities
- Prepare course material
- Create and post a course syllabus
- Present material during the assigned course times
- Hold office hours and provide appropriate out-of-class time for students
- Respond to student emails
- Conduct and grade assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner
- Submit final grades
Requirements
Course appointments may require instruction during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, off-campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination of these, based on the academic needs of the department/unit.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching and a demonstrated ability to engage and inspire students in the arts and media fields.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and proficiency in using educational technology tools are essential.
