Description
Congratulations! You've been selected to conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational exercise classes in the water using effective cueing techniques. Maintain constant surveillance of all participants emphasizing pool safety.
- Modify classes and routines based on participant fitness levels and evaluate progress.
- Celebrate achievements related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills, or overall health and well-being.
- Select music that is appropriate and aligns with the YMCA's commitment to being a community and family-based organization.
- Ensure you can see all students at all times during lessons and never turn your back on the class.
- Be observant of swimmers' behavior and intervene promptly if necessary.
- Keep accurate attendance and class records.
- Stay updated on current Health and Wellness/Aquatics programs and trends.
- Show leadership and enthusiasm for fitness and teaching.
- Maintain positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff.
- Clean the area after each lesson and report any equipment issues to the supervisor.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergencies.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Arrive 5-10 minutes early to every class and record time worked accurately with minimal mistakes.
- Notify the supervisor if unable to work a scheduled shift and provide coverage if needed.
- Be flexible to substitute for other employees or work beyond your assigned shift to ensure safety and proper coverage.
- Behave in a manner consistent with the Association's best interests and not bring discredit to it.
- Complete all job-related tasks as assigned.
- Take all required online safety courses.
- Support the Annual Community Support Campaign.
Requirements/Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one (1) year of relevant work experience
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
- A valid Fitness Certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., YMCA, AFAP, AEA)
- Water Art and/or Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program certifications preferred
- Strong vocal ability to project clear instructions during lessons
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Certifications are subject to annual audits

Salary: $18.93 per hour
