About the role
Glade Run Adventures offers therapeutic experiences for individuals with mental and/or physical challenges, including autism. Participants of all ages can benefit from unique interactive animal, horticulture, and sensory park experiences tailored to individual goals.
Responsibilities
- Assist and instruct riding lessons and animal related activities for the clients of Glade Run Lutheran Services as well as clients from the community.
- Assist and instruct horticultural activities for the clients of Glade Run Lutheran Services as well as clients from the community.
- Work with the agency and program staff to develop the Therapeutic Animal and Horticulture Program through suggestions and implementation of development goals.
- Aid in the care and supervision of facilities, equipment, and supplies for the safety of all participants in the program areas.
- Train and supervise client and community adult and junior volunteers for the safety of all participants in the program areas.
- Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
Requirements
- High school graduate (or equivalent).
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Western and English styles of riding.
- Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) preferred.
- Audio/visual/verbal acuity to provide supervision for the clients and to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Mobility and physical strength to perform all tasks of the program areas inclusive of instructing, riding, saddling, moving necessary equipment for lessons, and miscellaneous tasks around program area.
- Emotional stability to perform essential job functions.
- A basic knowledge of equine behavior and psychology.
- The ability to work with individuals and small groups.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- The ability to adjust hours to job requirements.
- Access to a telephone.
- Acceptable Pennsylvania State Police clearance, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History clearance, and FBI clearance.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to change.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to ask questions if uncertain about specific job tasks or changes.

- Must possess a basic knowledge of equine behavior and psychology.
- Must demonstrate ability to work with individuals and small groups.
- Must demonstrate competence in the safe handling and moving of horses.
- Must demonstrate initiative and follow-through to completion on all projects and assignments.
- Must honor a flexible schedule which meets the needs of the clients of Glade Run Lutheran Services.

Pay
- $23.85 hourly for Private Lessons.
- $37.10 hourly for Semi-Private Lessons.
- $47.70 hourly for Group Lessons.
- $10.00 hourly Admin/Non-instruction rate.
Schedule
Part-Time (minimum of 8 hours per week - including weekdays and/or weekends).
