Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is a multi-campus institution in Upstate New York with locations in Troy and Malta. HVCC offers over 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The college serves nearly 9,000 students annually and is a leader in career preparation, workforce training, and distance learning.

About the role

HVCC seeks experienced, dynamic faculty to join the Natural & Applied Sciences department as an Instructor of Anatomy & Physiology. Teaching assignments may include weekends, evenings, and online courses at the main campus in Troy and/or the Malta extension center. This is a full-time, probationary position beginning January 19, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Biology or a related discipline from an accredited college or university (required).
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a Master’s Degree in a related scientific, healthcare, or educational field will also be considered.
  • Two years of successful classroom and laboratory teaching experience at the college level in the content area.
  • Experience integrating technology in the classroom/lab.
  • Research or clinical experience (desirable).
  • Experience with distance learning initiatives (preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in student mentoring and/or resource room experience (preferred).
  • Experience using the D2L Brightspace learning management system (preferred).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Responsibilities

  • Implement instructional duties in both classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Develop and revise courses and curricula.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Participate on departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees for professional development and community-building.
  • Perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract under the direction of the Department Chairperson.
  • Teach courses assigned at the HVCC main campus and/or the Malta campus.

Schedule

This is a 10-month appointment (151 days) with a work obligation during the fall and spring semesters. The annual teaching load is 30–33 contact hours, typically distributed as 18 hours in the fall and 15 hours in the spring. Teaching assignments may include evenings, weekends, and online courses, with potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.

Pay

The minimum salary for this position is $53,000. Faculty appointments may be at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience.
