About the role
92NY Musical Theater is seeking strong musical theater instructors for our Fall Musical Theater Workshop Classes. Instructors are required to attend rehearsals and performances of the production(s) they are assigned to. Each production rehearses once a week; instructors may be assigned to multiple productions throughout the season.
Responsibilities
- Set, teach, and clean dance numbers, vocals, and scenes
- Notate blocking for scenes and dance numbers
- Keep track of performers that were absent and need to be put into scenes and dance numbers
- Run rehearsal
- During rehearsals and performances, assist with the run of the show
- Keep students on task in rehearsals
- Create prop lists
- Keep track of where props need to be set throughout the production
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts, Education, or related field
- Experience directing and/or choreographing for children is required
- 2+ years’ experience working in a high-profile theater or creative arts organization
- A demonstrable passion for musical theater education combined with at least 2 years of related teaching experience
Schedule
Hours are flexible with a 3–6 hour minimum commitment per week.
Pay
Per diem compensation range: $35 – $50/hour. The actual compensation offered will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and location.
