About the Role

This position reports to the Director of Assessment and Accountability and focuses on providing professional development, coaching, and ongoing support to instructional staff on best practices for instructional technology at the PK-12 level.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the division-level Curriculum and Instruction and Achievement team and advises its members on instructional technology.
  • Provides guidance to school administrative staff in the evaluation and selection of new software, hardware, and materials to support instructional objectives.
  • Plans, develops, collaborates with school-based leaders, and supports them in leading the implementation of a comprehensive instructional technology program aligned with the school board's AI policy for students.
  • Works with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and other agencies to meet student needs and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborates with school-based administration on site-based software licensing documentation and ensures all software is properly licensed.
  • Guides the work of school-based technology assistants in supporting instructional technology implementation.
  • Maintains technological competencies through research, coursework, and attending conferences, workshops, and training.
  • Plans, delivers, and leads division-level instructional technology professional learning and manages the professional development catalog in the Frontline Education system.
  • Trains teachers and administrators to create and effectively use online courses and other virtual opportunities.
  • Coordinates with the division's Director of Assessment and Accountability to ensure successful facilitation of the FCCPS strategic plan.
  • Assists teachers in obtaining, learning, and using educational technology resources to improve instructional effectiveness.
  • Collaborates regularly with the division's Assessment and Accountability team.
  • Serves as a technical liaison with district technical support staff and outside vendors.
  • Serves as vendor contact on technical issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to integrate instructional technology best practices into curricular areas.
  • Knowledge of school management technology and its applications in relation to the dissemination and analysis of student performance data.
  • Ability to successfully complete simultaneous, multiple, dissimilar projects in a timely manner and work with little direct supervision.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of an integrated software package and technical skill in using and troubleshooting operating systems, networks, and computer peripherals.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work with students, staff, parents, and the public.
  • Innovative and creative thinking to help teachers and students use technology in transformative ways to enhance student achievement.
  • Knowledge of IB philosophies with the ability to lead and implement IB best practices.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education preferred.
  • Certification in PK-12 Administration and Supervision preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License.
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate Program preferred.
  • At least three years of teaching experience with sufficient experience teaching technology.

Physical Requirements

  • Sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with others through telephone and in-person contact.
  • Ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls.
  • Physical capability to use office equipment such as computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines, and projection/video devices.
  • Ability to engage in climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions.

Pay

Payscale: L 11M

Schedule

11 months / 220 days, full-time, exempt status.
