About the role
The Instructional Systems Designer position supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the area of Support Services. The mission-critical program provides comprehensive training, safety, standards, curriculum development, and technical modernization services to ensure national border security agents can operate safely and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Design Excellence: Lead the instructional design lifecycle—from needs analysis and storyboarding to final evaluation—using ADDIE and SAM models.
- Develop Interactive Media: Build rich, engaging CBT/WBT courses utilizing authoring tools like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or Lectora.
- Ensure Standards: Ensure all e-learning courses are Section 508 compliant and adhere strictly to SCORM, xAPI, and LMS deployment standards.
- Collaborate with SMEs: Work hand-in-hand with federal stakeholders, instructors, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate complex tactical aviation or maritime safety concepts into clear, educational designs.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design, specifically focused on computer-based training (CBT) and web-based modules.
- Credentials: Professional certification in Instructional Design, Education, or Training and Development.
- Tech Skills: Mastery of Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar rapid-authoring systems.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background suitability check.
