Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate or California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) Certificate
- Completion of forty-eight (48) units of higher education study, or an AA degree, or successful passage of the Modesto City Schools Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Assessment Exam
- Experience working with school-age students
- All applicants must submit a copy of an AA degree, transcripts showing at least 48 units, or a proficiency certificate showing paraprofessional requirement compliance
Pay
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-12, Mild-Moderate Support Needs: $19.82 - $27.92 per hour
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-12, Extensive Support Needs: $22.38 - $31.50 per hour
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-6, Extensive Support Needs, Autism: $22.38 - $31.50 per hour (advances to range 34 after training)
Schedule
- 180 days per year for most positions
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-6, Extensive Support Needs, Autism: 180 days per year plus 20 extended service days
Additional Requirements
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-12, Extensive Support Needs: District-approved Restraint Certificate must be obtained within six (6) months of employment and renewed as required
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-6, Extensive Support Needs, Autism:
- District-approved Restraint Certificate must be obtained within six (6) months of employment and renewed as required
- 20 hours of successful autism in-service training with passage of unit tests at 80% or higher within the first three (3) months of hire
- Salary increase to range 34 upon completion of training
Benefits
- Classified full-time new hires: District benefit cap of $14,400 annually for employee or employee + 1 dependent, or $17,400 annually for employee + family (2 or more dependents)
- Classified part-time new hires (working 4-5.99 hours per day): District benefit cap of $9,648 annually for employee or employee + 1 dependent, or $11,658 annually for employee + family (2 or more dependents)
Hiring Incentive
Any out-of-district new hire who agrees to stay for a minimum of one (1) year will receive a hiring incentive paid as follows:
- 50% within 45 days after the first day of paid contracted service
- 25% within 45 days after successful completion of the probationary period (6 months or 130 days)
- 25% within 45 days after successful completion of one year of paid contracted service
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-12, Extensive Support Needs: $1,000 incentive bonus
- Instructional Paraprofessional, Special Education, PK-6, Extensive Support Needs, Autism: $2,000 incentive bonus
